River trips are a popular opportunity to experience the abundant bird life, watch the hippos, crocodile and game on the western banks and experience the privacy and tranquility of unspoiled nature.

Bird Paradise

Looking for the perfect bird paradise (over 350 species ) is an experience not to be missed for  the novice bird watcher and the die hards alike.  African Purple Swamphen (Purple Gallinule),   the Majestic Fish Eagle,  Pygmy Geese, Pied  and Malachite King Fisher, Black Crake,  Carmine Bee-Eater ( seasonal ) and many more riverine species frequent the papyrus  lined banks of the river . This in itself is a privilege worth a visit .

Wake up with the White-Browed Robin Chats and Babblers  in the morning and enjoy the symphony of the  Bell-Frogs, Wood Owls and Night-jars after sunset.

Mudumu National Park

18 km from the camp  offer a wonderful experience in self-driving daily excursions.  The Park roads are best negotiated with a 4 x 4 vehicle, please enquire at the camp about the conditions when you arrive; as they are effected by rainfall and river levels especially in the rainy season from November to April, a nominal entry fee is payable in NAD(N$) at the entry gates .

Bwabwata National Park

Across the river on the opposite bank,  and upstream is 25 km away and only accessible by 4 x 4 vehicle .a  nominal entry fee per vehicle is applicable at the entry gate.

Be prepared to enjoy an abundance of game hippo elephant and buffalo in this unspoilt and beautiful part of the Caprivi.

Nkasa Lupala National Park

(previously Mamili Park) to the east  of  the Mudumu National Park and 50 km from us, offers a must do day trip with open savannah beautiful Leadwood trees, Acacia, Silver Terminalia  and Mopanie scrubland.

Herds of buffalo in their hundreds is a common sight with lechwe, kudu and impala in abundance.  Only 4 x4 track vehicles are allowed into the Park with the standard entry fees payble at the entry gate.

Chobe National Park

is 200 km to the east  past the Ngoma border post  on the Trans Kalahari Highway.

The spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe is 360 km away and an easy days drive.

The Zambian border at Wenela border post outside Katima Mulilo town is a 130 km drive that will take you to Livingstone or Barotse land in western Zambia and the origin of the mighty Zambezi river .
